Award-Winning Filmmakers on the Jury of the 2025 Prague Film Festival

Prague, February 28, 2025 (PROTEXT) – The jury of the main competition at the Prague Film Festival 2025, taking place April 23–26, will welcome renowned filmmakers whose works have resonated at prestigious international festivals, including Festival de Cannes, Berlinale, and Annecy. Their experience and artistic vision will shape this year’s edition of the festival.

Gunnur Martinsdóttir Schlüter (Iceland) is a director and screenwriter whose film Fár received the Special Jury Prize at the 2023 Festival de Cannes. This minimalist yet powerful film explores the moral dilemmas hidden in everyday life and confirms the director’s unique storytelling style.
Elżbieta Benkowska (Poland) gained attention with her film Olena, which was selected for the competition at Festival de Cannes in 2013. Her films stand out for their intricate character psychology and precise atmospheric building.
Matěj Paprčiak (Czech Republic) is an actor with international experience, a graduate of Richmond Drama School and Giles Foreman Centre for Acting in London. He was nominated for Best Actor at the Maine Film Festival (USA) for his role in Quiet Crossing. The film Date, in which he also appeared, represented the Czech Republic at the world finals of the 48 Hour Film Project.
ANIRAMA: Showcasing Young Czech Animation
Prague Film Festival 2025 will present ANIRAMA, a pitch platform for student animated films in development. This platform offers talented creators the opportunity to present their projects to film professionals and the general public.
Among this year’s jury members are:
Izabela Plucińska (Poland) – Director of animated films whose Jam Session won the Silver Bear at Berlinale.
Réka Bucsi (Hungary) – Director of acclaimed films known for her unique surrealistic poetics. Her Symphony No. 42 was selected for competition at Berlinale in 2014.
Alexandra Hroncová (Czech Republic) – Expert in festival strategy and film distribution, responsible for the success of hundreds of short films at prestigious festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, Sundance, and Toronto. Founder of FAMUfilms.cz, Europe’s first SVOD platform of a film school.
Maximilian Breckwoldt (Germany) – Animator and director experimenting with the form of animated films, also organizer of the pitching forum at the Festival of Animation Films Berlin, a partner of the Prague Film Festival.
ANIRAMA thus opens important doors for students into the international film world.
Prague Film Festival 2025: A Program for Discerning Film Audiences
The festival will offer more than 72 selected films from around the world, screened at Kino Pilotů in Prague. Film students can look forward to inspiring masterclasses with jury members and other distinguished guests.
